Saham Amanah Sabah pays out 12% Dividend

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has declared an income distribution of 4 per cent dividend, or 4 sen per unit, for Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) for 2010. The total payout amounts to RM45.78 million based on 1.14 billion units held by 54,000 unitholders as at December 31 last year. The dividend is closed to 12%, calculating based the current NAV per unit is RM0.3396 as at 6 Jan 2011.

SAS recorded a gross income of RM64.286 million in the financial year ending December 31 2010 with main gains coming from SAS' investments in the stock market (76.9%), income from dividends (13.7%), financial market earnings of money market (5%), sales of bonds (2.7%) and Forex forward contract (1.7%).


Its distributable income amounted to RM46.358 million after deducting managers' expenses and provision for taxation. The income distribution would be paid to 54,000 investors, comprising 46,014 individual investors, 7,407 holders under the Hardcore Poor Scheme, 530 through bank loans and 46 from the corporate sector would be paid through the issue of warrants.

Musa said SAS was ranked number one by rating agency Lipper Asia Ltd based on its three-year performance, having topped 73 other funds under the Equity Malaysia category. He said that this was by far the best achievement accorded to SAS and Saham Sabah Bhd (SSB) as the manager.

He also launched SSB's website, www.sahamsabah.com.my for investors and the public to seek information on the firm and SAS.
